Getting Back to the Ancient Path

Restore us, O God; Cause Your face to shine,
And we shall be saved!

Psalm 80:3

I have been pondering what it will take for Catholic faithful to fall out of step with Church hierarchy gone awry for some time now. I think Catholic believers are being hit with a double whammy. Not only is the world around us bombarded with an agenda pushed by nefarious forces to monger fear with the man-made Covid virus, now morphing into variants, but all of humanity is pressured to take a vaccine wreaking more havoc than the disease itself. Catholics watch helplessly as their shepherd embraces this movement, indeed endorses it.

I observed the Pope’s antics with Biden in Rome, endorsing the vaccine, and his appointment of Jeffrey Sachs as a permanent member of the Vatican’s Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences. (Jeffrey Sachs is militantly pro-contraception and co-author of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, which promote abortion worldwide.) These actions by the Supreme Pontiff brought to mind Catholic Remnant TV editor Michael Matt. I wondered if the events of the past few days prompted his response. Indeed Mr. Matt decided it time to speak to the faithful – as only he can. He makes a case for falling out of step with error while staying loyal to Christ by following the path the Church was walking before Vatican II. I hope you’ll take the time to watch the video. No matter where I am in my walk with the Lord, I find if things become difficult or foggy, I can always turn to the ancient Liturgy of the Hours and begin reading and praying along with countless numbers of other believers throughout the day. It never fails to be a help the Holy Spirit uses to guide me back onto God’s true path of faith. Today’s mid-morning prayer (Terce) comes from Psalm 80 (Listed as Psalm 79 in the Jerusalem Bible.) Although written for ancient Israel, I began to weep as I read it and thought of our Church over the past 2,000 years and how similar is the description of the vine planted and taking root, spreading through the world. The call for help to the LORD of Hosts is to the one true God, the hosts – His armies of angels. Verses 17-18 speak clearly of Messiah – Christians recognize Jesus in these words because He identified Himself as “the son of man.” (Matthew 18:11):

Let Your hand be upon the man of Your right hand,
Upon the son of man whom You made strong for Yourself.
Then we will not turn back from You;
Revive us, and we will call upon Your name.

I believe we will see a remnant forming as more and more Catholics wake up to the current situation in the Church. Psalm 80 is a beautiful place to begin with your prayers! If you’d like to see a version before opening your Bible, CLICK HERE.

King Jesus, You are our high priest forever. We ask for Your intercession for all Roman Catholics sitting in Church pews throughout the world. Pour out Your Spirit in great measure upon true believers and give gifts of wisdom, understanding, and knowledge to those seeking answers for sure direction in the coming days. There are never enough words to thank You, Holy One. May our prayers and actions be an expression of our love and eternal gratefulness for You. Amen.

God bless you always,

Nancy M.
