You have rescued me,
O God who keeps His promises,
I worship only You, how You hate those
who worship idols those imitation gods.
~King David, Psalm 31:6
The Spiritual Combat Zone
The final words of my last post about Francis’ failure to personally refute denying the divinity of Jesus Christ were:
“We have only the bland statement issued from the Vatican Press office after every Scalarari article that turns Catholic faithful upside down.”
Recently, I listened to Christian music on IHeart Radio. A song entitled Rescue came on and caught my attention. I located it online and listened to the lyrics a number of times. Listening, I thought about writing a post to faithful Catholics in the early stages of spiritual suffering. Good people are coming to grips with uncomfortable truths, watching the integrity of Catholic hierarchy evaporate before their eyes. For many, this causes spiritual turmoil.
There was a time when I struggled with tremendous spiritual turmoil. I had breast cancer and reached out to similar victims with a blog called Grace with Cancer. A song which began a process of turning around my downward spiritual spiral was posted there. I came across this old post shortly after listening to Rescue’s lyrics. I don’t know how the old post popped up, but I do know listening to that old song of Christian encouragement reminded me of what returning to Scriptural basics can accomplish.
Praise and worship music begin my devotion time. It clears the atmosphere. Take a few minutes to enjoy the beautiful song and lyrics Lauren Daigle sings in Resue. Scroll down and read while you listen. In a sense, the lyrics recall the Lord’s promise of victory to embattled Catholic faithful.
Lauren Daigle’s lyrics remind me of spiritual battle. On Catholic Exchange, Stephen Beale wrote concerning (the Book of) Revelation is a Call to Battle:
Stephen wrote about Catholics seeing Revelation as a call to spiritual battle; Lauren wrote lyrics about Christians amid a spiritual battle. What if I write an open letter from the One who dictated Revelation to John in his time to Catholics in our time concerning preparing for spiritual battle. What might it say? Here goes…
The atmosphere surrounding you can teach you
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.
~St. Paul, Ephesians 6:12
Beloved and Faithful Ones,
There is no doubt you are in the midst of a spiritual combat zone. American Catholics were devastated by last summer’s revelations of the sexual abuse of minors by Catholic clerics, as revealed by the State of Pennsylvania. You were stunned by Archbishop Viagano’s expose of the Lavender Mafia. Fourteen months later, no one has stepped forward to prove it is anything but true. Right before the Amazon Synod, financial corruption to the tune of millions of dollars became apparent when the Vatican Guard took the financial records from the office of the Secretariat of State. Pagan idols appeared in the Vatican Gardens and beyond in Rome. The Pope does not personally deny the scandalous report of his conversation, denying the divinity of Christ.
Spiritual Reality: the Enemy of your souls is running all over you through “feet on the ground” via members of the Catholic clergy from the top down.
It is startling to see idol worship in the Vatican Garden and again inside St. Peter, where the pope and entourage pay homage to the horrible Earth Mother idol. It is painful to learn the top cardinal, the man next to the pope until last summer, is implicated in the Vatican financial corruption scandal. It is horrific to read today from the Vatican News Agency that the Vatican is promoting an electronic smart-rosary available for $109. A most outrageous ecological-Liberation Theology blurb prefaced the release. In part:
“In a world of indifference and in the face of so many injustices, poverty, elementary rights denied, praying for peace in the world means reconciling ourselves in our daily relationships, with the poorest, with the stranger, with different cultures and spiritual and religious traditions, but also with our land, our forests, our rivers and oceans.”
The one behind all of this is taking a hint from the indigenous people of the Amazon who mask demons behind the Saints by using the holy rosary, a true Catholic devotion, as a vehicle to mask a radical environmentalist/Marxist agenda. There is an option for rosary themes including Laudato Si, migrants, and refugees! They focus on sales to young people.
St. Paul taught in Ephesians 6:12, “We do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in heavenly places.” Understanding this spiritual principle does not take away personal responsibility from those who are so obviously corrupting the faith. Spiritual wellbeing means choosing to forgive those who are against you. However, you do not trust or follow an evil army.
Clearing the Atmosphere
Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil… having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness…
~St. Paul, Ephesians 6:11,14
Nothing can clear the murky spiritual atmosphere fogging up your clear thinking faster than learning the truth about where you stand as Christians. It worked for two disciples on the road to Emmaus immediately after the crucifixion. They were in shock, devastated, at the brutal death. Walking beside them without being recognized offered an opportunity to teach them the truths found in Moses and the Prophets. Their comment to each other about this teaching on the road to Emmaus is a key for you now:
“Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?”
God’s truth revealed in the Holy Scriptures is ageless.
Girding Yourselves with the Truth
James reminds: who you are and how you became Christians:
“In the exercise of His will He brought us forth by the word of truth,
so that we would be a kind of first fruits among His creatures.
Faith in God is timeless; the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. The disciples walking to Emmaus were among the very first fruits. You were ages away from becoming a twinkle in your parents’ eyes then, but prayers had gone up to the Father for you just a few days before in the Garden of Gethsemane. Along with the disciples, by an exercise of will, you were brought forth by the Word of truth:
“I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.”
~ John 16:20-21
These words are beautiful. In this instance, it is important you know the words prayed just prior. Those words “gird” you with truth for spiritual combat:
” I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one. They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth. As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they also may be sanctified by the truth.”
~ John 16:15-19
James continues to help clear the atmosphere and hands you the sword of the spirit, the word of God:
“Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.”
~ James 1:21
A good example of “receiving the word in humility” is the people of Nineveh’s reaction to Jonah when he landed on their shores from the belly of a whale. He told them they had 40 days, or God would destroy them. They put ashes on their heads, fasted and mourned before God to avert disaster. (Jonah 3:1-10)
This past Monday throughout the Catholic world, faithful had an opportunity to read the Gospel of Luke and words repeating the Ninevites’ correct response to the Father’s warning through His servant Noah. In 1960, there was a letter concerning a warning from Fatima given to another faithful servant of God ignored in Rome. The words in Luke were also preached in Matthew. Once recorded to a crowd of listeners; another recorded to scribes and Pharisees- priests. Some faithful are already answering the words of James, and Noah, by praying and fasting for the filthiness and overflow of wickedness from Rome reaching the universal Church to be cast down. However, to those who are not, remember the words from this past Monday:
“The men of Nineveh will rise up in the judgment with this generation and condemn it, for they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and indeed a greater than Jonah is here.” (Luke 11:32)
…and his name was called the Word of God
Sister Faustina writes in her diary about a very distinct vision that can well describe the results of faithless shepherds leading trusting, guileless sheep:
“…I saw two roads. One was broad, covered with sand and flowers, full of joy, music, and all sorts of pleasures. People were walking along it, dancing and enjoying themselves. They reached the end without realizing it. And at the end of the road, there was a horrible precipice; that is, the abyss of hell. The souls fell blindly into it; as they walked, so they fell. And their number was so great that it was impossible to count them. And I saw the other road, or rather, a path, for it, was narrow and strewn with thorns and rocks; and the people who walked along it had tears in their eyes, and all kinds of suffering befell them. Some fell down upon the rocks, but stood up immediately and went on. At the end of the road there was a magnificent garden filled with all sorts of happiness, and all these souls entered there. At the very first instant they forgot all their sufferings” (Diary, 153).
Beloved and Faithful Ones,
Thomas once said, “Lord, we do not know where you are going, and how can we know the way?” (John 14:5)
The hour had not come for the Church to become organized, but I gave them the same instructions that will carry you through this present turmoil:
“If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.” (John 14:15-18)
But hold fast what you have till I come. And he who overcomes, and keeps My works until the end, to him I will give power over the nations—
‘He shall rule them with a rod of iron; They shall be dashed to pieces like the potter’s vessels’—as I also have received from My Father; I will give him the morning star.
“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” ’
